Texel Studio 3: Installation and Initial Setup Guide
Overview
Texel Studio 3 is a software for Texel 3D scanners that supports all Texel Portal models, such as Texel Portal BX/MX/RX/FX. Texel Studio 3 can perform 3D scanning, display results, organize 3D scans, supports basic editing and export to all popular 3D file formats. Additional features, such as human body measurements, may be available if a corresponding addon is installed.

This guide describes the process of Texel Studio 3 installation, registering your license and importing your 3D scanner preset. After completing the steps below, the software will be installed and ready to work with your Texel 3D scanner hardware.

Texel Studio 3 is installed for the current user, but during the second stage of the installation administrator permissions may be required to install the necessary system components and drivers for communicating with 3D scanners. After installation is complete, you may need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
After successful installation, a Texel Studio 3 shortcut should appear on the Desktop, and files with the ".scan" extension should be associated with Texel Studio 3.

If you encounter any problems with license activation, or if you want to transfer the license to another device, please contact our support team at support@texel.graphics to resolve the issue.
3D Scanner Preset Import
Each Texel 3D scanner comes with a corresponding preset (which may be provided together with the license information or pre-installed on the device) describing its configuration: arrangement of depth sensors, their serial numbers, parameters and calibration, information about the geometry of the scanning area, and other data. 3D scanner preset is stored in the XML format (the file has the ".xml" extension, e.g., portal_fx.xml) and must be added (imported) to Texel Studio 3 to start using the scanner.
Note: If Texel AutoScan software was previously installed on your PC, the preset can be found in the C:\Texel\AutoScan-win64\local\presets directory. If Texel Studio Pro software was previously installed, the preset is located in the C:\Texel\Studio-Pro-win64\presets\scan directory.
To import a 3D scanner preset, follow these steps:
-
Open the Settings window: File > Settings... in the menu bar:

-
Find the 3D Scanner Configuration > Scan Presets section, click the Import... button and select the preset file for your 3D scanner (it must have the ".xml" extension):

-
If desired, change the preset name (or leave the default name) and click the OK button:

-
After successful import, the new preset will be displayed in the Scan Presets drop-down list:

-
Click the OK button to apply new settings.
